Discussion:
What's the difference between MMJB WMAs and WMP WMAs?

I just purchased a Pioneer DEH-P4600MP, a car receiver/CD player,
specifically because it's
supposed to be able to play CD-ROMs with WMA files. What I have found
is that WMA files that I ripped using MusicMatch Jukebox (MMJB)
wouldn't play at all, but WMAs ripped using Windows Media Player (WMP)
play fine. I've been very careful to keep the recording parameters the
exact same in both cases (128 kbps, continuous bitrate, no digital
rights management). The manual for the deck states that WMA files
ripped on some programs may or may not play, but don't say anything
more. Unfortunately, I have taken my entire CD collection and ripped
it using MMJB to WMA files, none of which will play on my new deck.

Any ideas why MMJB WMAs will not play while WMP WMAs won't? Is there
anything I can do to get the MMJB WMAs so that they will play, short
of converting everything to MP3s?

There is no difference in WMA files. Your problem likely stems from Digital
Rights Management. As far as your deck is concerned, it probably thinks it
isn't "allowed" to play the files. Windows Media Player does a much better
job of handling DRM than MMJB because Microsoft invented WMA.

Is there any way to check the DRM status of my alread-burned WMAs? I'm
95% certain that DRM was off on these files, and I'm able to play the
files on another machine that I have.

You might be able to play those files, and have a second program, windows media
record them by setting the mixer source of recording to what type of audio is
being played. I think the output is most likely a wave.

Another thing you might do, is find a jukebox type program that will play those
files one after another, and record the result as one big wma file.

Here is a site that has some converters to download. See the third one down,
it seems like maybe what you need.
