I have decided to try mixing our next audio album/CD in a
computer instead of using a regular analog mixing board so that I
will have automated faders, more effects (without a fortune
in hardware) yada yada....
We have the Mackie MDR 24/96 in the studio and it is nice in that
I can just FTP the files upstairs to the "mixing computer".
I have version 1.31 running on the MDR so it should have the time
information all there happy etc.
I have been advised to use the Mackie Traction2 software because
it will directly import/interpret the prj files and the help for
the software shows this option. However, the download version
of the software does not show the option on the menu like it is
in the help file.
I have Traction2 ordered but I also have a copy of Autodesk that
came "free" with the MOTU "Traveler" thingie that I just bought.
I plan, at this point to do all the recording in the studio and
just do the final mixing etc on the PC. I am from the "old
school" and have always (since the 1980s) done everything
"manually" before on an analog board.
Is anyone else using an MDR or HDR Mackie 24 track and taking
the files from it directly to a computer for mixing? How?
(Manually adjusting the tracks to where they need to be in time
does not sound like happiness or peace to me)
I hope I am asking in the right groups as there doesn't seem
to be a DAW group....
How does Autodesk compare to other software, especially for
an "experienced" newbie?
Thanks,
Pastor Steve Winter
