Hi!

I burn cd-r's and cd-rw's all the time, with pix, music, data, etc.,
so I'm pretty well-versed in this stuff. I've yet to make a cd that
didn't work in its intended target environment, but.....

I want to know what media/settings/software or whatever will give me
my BEST chances for creating music CD's that will play in an unknown
CD player.

Here is the background:

We are going on a houseboat for a week, and I want to burn some music
cd's, rather than taking stacks and stacks of cd's with me. The
houseboat has a CD player, but I have no way of finding out what kind
it is. I have Roxio ECDC v6 and also their Audio Central which both
burn audio cd's. I have Nero Ultra v.6 available, which I have not
yet installed (Not really happy with Roxio for video stuff)

I have Sony CD-R Music cd's and Memorex 48x CD-R's to use. (I know
not to use CD-RW's for this)

I have a Plextor PX-708A (DVD+-R/RW, CD-R/RW) and Samsung SM 348B
CD-R/RW DVD-ROM (came with computer) drives. Both are equipped to
write CD-r's at high speeds (both are less than 6 months old).

Anyone have any ideas how to make cd's that most likely work? I can't
IMAGINE a week on a houseboat without music!!! Yikes!

Thanks in advance,
Melody (I swear that is my real name :-) )

Simple.

Verbatim "Datalife Plus" (Metal AZO or Super AZO) media, burnt at a
maximum speed of x8.

Guaranteed to work anywhere.

You're more than welcome.

I'll go on to add that if you want the *best* possible audio CDs, with
the longest shelf-life and high resilience to UV and scratching, then it
is Verbatim to the rescue once again. Their "CD-R Audio" 700 MB discs
only come in boxes of ten with jewelcase, and are only rated for a
maximum burn speed of x16, but they have a double layer of protection --
a UV filter covered in a double polycarbonate resin layer (on each side)
for durability.

You can tell these ones apart from the light-green p-cyanide rubbish as
the data layer is a deep, rich purple that goes very light when burnt
(modern Super AZO discs use a lighter blue dye layer).
