I am looking to get a new computer to do some recording with. Any
recommendations on what would be a good sound card to look for. I am
not familiar with the different brands the only one I know is Sound
Blaster. Any help would be great.

Thanks!

For recording I would suggest an external one, e.g. a USB or Firewire
card, as the cheap internal ones tend to be of a lower quality -
interference can be a problem (though there are expensive internal ones
that overcome this). I am not that up on current models, but
MIDIMan/M-Audio and Edirol models tend to be good, I believe they do
several budget models now. Have a look at www.turnkey.co.uk and
www.digitalvillage.co.uk

I just bought a bunch of M-Audio stuff at a good price over the last year. .

However, had I to do again, I would lean more toward EMU or Echo. Cheaper
and less problems with the drivers, from what I have been reading.
