Discussion:
How to get my jazz from e-piano to computer?

Apologies for any inappropriate X-posting due to ignorance.

I have a Technics SX-PX-206 electric-piano and would like to transfer
my jazz to my PC (Is MP3 the best format for this?) so I can work with
it via software (not sure which program to use) then e-mail it.
Details:
1) My Technics has MIDI plugs, but is too far for direct connection.
3) AMD Windows 2000 PC upstairs and Technics hoplessly downstairs.
2) I live abroad where discussion with store clerks is difficult.
What I'm wondering is if there's some kind of recorder which takes MIDI
output and stores it (perhaps on flash memory chips?) so that I can
download it into my PC later. Surely someone has developed a system like
that, or perhaps it's too expensive, and I'd be better off just buying a
portable electronic keyboard that I can play directly into my PC?
I'd greatly appreciate any advice.

Hmm... Slow newsgroups. In others I'd have been flamed repeatedly and
advised to do a google search for: "digital recorder" midi mp3
This leads me to believe that the best I could do in a recorder would
cost nearly as much as a Yamaha DGX 202 76-key portable. I hate to lose
that octave, but . . .

Regards ;)

I guess regulars here spend more time on the keyboards of there axes
than their PC's which is probably best, ne?

SMF's or standard midi files may do the trick. Is there a floppy drive in
your midi keyboard?
